Christian Mandl, research associate at the chair of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, successfully defended his PhD thesis with the title „Optimal Procurement and Inventory Control in Volatile Commodity Markets – Advances in Stochastic and Data-Driven Optimization“.

In his dissertation, he developed learning-enabled data-driven decision-support for commodity purchaser’s and commodity merchants by combining methods from statistical learning/machine learning with mathematical optimization. The developed approaches are in use at companies from different industries.

We congratulate Christian Mandl and wish him all the best for his future career.
