Last week, Nicolas Kuttruff represented our chair at this year's ELA Doctorate Workshop, held from 24-27 June 2026 and hosted by TU Dublin's Faculty of Business, School of Business Technology, Retail, and Supply Chain.
The annual workshop, organized by the European Logistics Association (ELA) and sponsored by the Kuehne Foundation, brings together around 20 doctoral students from across Europe who are nominated by their supervisors to present their research to a panel of leading logistics professors. Now in its 30th edition, the event is widely regarded as one of the premier opportunities for young logistics researchers to receive expert feedback and build a European-wide academic network.
Nicolas Kuttruff presented his PhD project on "Optimization under Complex Constraints in Large-Scale Last-Mile Delivery," in which he investigates how optimization methods and metaheuristics can be designed to handle the many real-world constraints that make last-mile delivery so challenging to plan efficiently at scale.
