Chair of Operations Management
We are welcoming you at the Chair of Operations Management, led by Prof. Dr. Rainer Kolisch. The teaching and research at the chair is centering on the application of Operations Research methods for analyzing and optimizing Operations Management problems. Current research topics are Scheduling, Routing, Health Care Operations, Airport Operations, Project Scheduling and Management, as well as Make-to-Order and Engineer-to-Order Operations.

Guangrui Yang, doctoral student at the chair, gave a presentation on the topic “Strategic Workforce Planning for Airline Pilots under Seniority Rule and Fairness Conditions” at the 24th Conference of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS), which took place from July 12 – 17 in Vienna, Austria. The presented work is part of Guangrui’s doctoral thesis and was undertaken in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Rainer Kolisch, Dr. Thomas Hagspihl from Bauhaus Luftfahrt, and Adrian Hürzeler from Lufthansa.
