Chair of Operations Management

We are welcoming you at the Chair of Operations Management, led by Prof. Dr. Rainer Kolisch. The teaching and research at the chair is centering on the application of Operations Research methods for analyzing and optimizing Operations Management problems. Current research topics are Scheduling, Routing, Health Care Operations, Airport Operations, Project Scheduling and Management, as well as Make-to-Order and Engineer-to-Order Operations.

Maximilian Pohl Honored with Anna Valicek Medal for Innovative Airline and Aviation Research

From September 30 - October 4, Maximilian attended the 59th Annual Symposium of the Airline Group of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (AGIFORS) in Seattle, USA. He was invited to present his work on “Runway Scheduling during Winter Operations”, which he co-authored with Prof. Rainer Kolisch and Prof. Maximilian Schiffer, in front of the Anna Valicek Award Committee.

The Anna Valicek Medal promotes original and innovative research in the application of Operations Research to civil airline and/or civil airline related business problems.

The award committee recognized Maximilian’s innovative research and regarded his work to be directly relevant to the needs of the AGIFORS Community and the airline industry. Therefore, the committee awarded the Anna Valicek Medal to Maximilian along with a 1,000 USD prize.
