Maximilian Pohl, Rainer Kolisch and Maximilan Schiffer have published a paper on “Runway Scheduling during Winter Operations” in Omega - The International Journal of Management Science. The paper addresses the planning problem of simultaneously scheduling aircraft and snow removals on multiple airport runways. The proposed approach significantly reduces aircraft delays during winter operations. Short computation times of a few seconds allow to embed the approach in real-time decision making. Furthermore, the paper provides managerial insight for human planners. The paper is available from the journals website at {https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0305048320306794} or can be received upon request from the authors.
