The German Society for Operations Research (GOR) annually awards excellent bachelors graduates for special study performances in Operations Research. This year, Johannes Knörr was awarded for his excellent Bachelor thesis at the chair of Logistics & Supply Chain Management.

Under the supervision of Christian Mandl, M.Sc., Mr. Knörr studied “Optimized Data-Driven Commodity Procurement with Derivative Hedging”. Based on mixed-integer linear programming formulations for various traded contract schemes, he investigated the value of Prescriptive Analytics and Big Data (such as economic and environmental indicators) for commodity procurement and hedging decisions under price risk.

After finishing his bachelor’s degree in Management & Technology (TUM-BWL), Mr. Knörr started a master’s studies in the Elite Graduate Program Finance and Information Management (FIM) at TUM and continues to explore the interface between finance and operations. Congratulations!
