Every year, the Society for Operations Research (GOR) awards excellent bachelors graduates for special study performances in Operations Research. The award is sponsored by Springer-Verlag, Heidelberg and aims at encouraging further activity in operations research, as well as strengthening the visibility of operations research at universities. This year, the award was given to our student assistant Magdalena Lippenberger at the graduation celebration of the TUM School of Management. She received the price for her excellent Bachelors thesis which she wrote with the support of our doctoral student Pirmin Fontaine. The subject of the thesis was the “Comparison of the MILP formulation and the Savings-Method for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows”. She examined two ways of solving a vehicle routing problem and compared them with regard to run time and quality of the solution. Congratulations!
