The German Society for Operations Research (GOR) annually awards a prize to excellent master theses in Operations Research. This year, Magdalena Lippenberger received the prize for the thesis she wrote at the chair of Logistics & Supply Chain Management.

Under the supervision of Szymon Albinski, M.Sc., Mrs. Lippenberger wrote about “An adaptive large neighborhood search for routing and scheduling carsharing service requests” in cooperation with BMW Group. An Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search metaheuristic was adapted to solve a variant of vehicle routing problem, tested by applying real-world data and evaluated regarding performance and run time. The developed algorithm can support fleet managers who handle a complex problem in their daily business.

The prize was awarded on September, 12, 2018 during the opening session of the GOR International Annual Conference in Brussels. Congratulations!
