The paper "Consistent vehicle routing with pickup decisions - Insights from sport academy training transfers" authored by Christian Jost, Rainer Kolisch and Alexander Jungwirth of TUM and Sebastian Schiffels of Lancaster University has been published in the latest issue of the European Journal of Operational Research. In the paper a vehicle routing problem with service priorities and tour consistency is presented. The concrete application stems from the training transfers of soccer players of the youth academy of TSG Hoffenheim, a club in the first national soccer league of Germany. The authors provide a model and a heuristic solution approach to maximize the number of transfers and to minimize travel times under consistency constraints. Applying the approach to TSG-data allows for substantial improvements. The paper is available at https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ejor.2021.06.035.
