Thomas Hagspihl has received an honorable mention in the 2024 INFORMS Aviation Applications Section Best Dissertation Award competition for his dissertation, “Essays on Optimization of Airport Infrastructure.” In the thesis, he addresses three strategic planning challenges in airport infrastructure, with an emphasis on optimizing apron layouts and improving connections between airports and their surrounding catchment areas. The award recognizes innovative approaches in applying mathematical optimization to solve complex issues in the aviation industry.
