Dr. Marcel Sieke of BARKAWI gave a presentation on Service Parts Management in the lecture Inventory Management. He started his presentation with structuring the relevant parts in Supply Chain Management: Sourcing, Manufacturing, Distribution and Service. When focusing more on Service Parts he split the Aftermarket into two fields: Warranty and Service Sales where you need different approaches to handle each field according to the individual needs. He emphasized the higher requirements to service level and response time in service parts optimization compared to finished goods. At last he made the audience aware of the necessity to apply complex methods always in relation to the handling and administrative cost and to think of cross functional conflicts.
