Last week, Patrick Helm attended the 29th ELA Doctorate Workshop in Naples, Italy.
The ELA Doctorate Workshop, organized by the European Logistics Association (ELA), is an annual event for doctoral students engaged in logistics research. It offers a platform for students to present their research projects, receive feedback, and network with peers and experts in the field. Students present their projects to a committee of experienced logistics professors during the workshop. The event is an excellent opportunity for doctoral students to enhance their research, gain valuable insights, and build a professional network within the logistics community. The 29th edition of the workshop took place from 18 June to 21 June 2025 at the historic Basilica de Santa Chiara in Naples. It was organised by the Institute of Mediterranean Studies (ISMed) in collaboration with the Department of Human Science of the Italian National Research Council (CNR).
Patrick Helm presented his PhD project “Decomposition Methods for Large-Scale Markov Decision Processes“, co-supervised by Stefan Minner and Gudrun Kiesmüller. The presentation focused on ways to decompose large-scale multi-product inventory problems to efficiently obtain good solutions in reasonable time.
