Annually, the BVL (Bundesvereinigung Logistik) rewards young scientists for their outstanding theses. This year, Philipp Berger was awarded for his Master’s thesis “Data-driven and machine learning-inspired procurement in volatile markets”, supervised by Dr. Christian Mandl. The data-driven model leverages machine learning to solve the multi-period stochastic problem, and is motivated by a real-world application in the area of commodity purchasing. Congratulations!
