We are thrilled to announce that Christina Liepold has successfully defended her PhD at the TUM School of Management! Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maximilian Schiffer, Christina’s dissertation explored how intermediated online platforms can go beyond profit maximization to improve resource efficiency and reduce negative externalities.
Her research investigates platform-enabled servitization through optimized supply–demand matching, intelligent use of platform data, and adaptive fee-setting policies powered by deep reinforcement learning.
Christina’s academic journey was enriched by international conference visits and research stays in Montréal 🇨🇦 and London 🇬🇧. We extend sincere thanks to her supervisor, her examination committee—Prof. Dr. Margaretha Gansterer and Prof. Dr. Martin Grunow—and all collaborators at the Professorship of Business Analytics & Intelligent Systems.
Following her PhD, Christina will join RWTH Aachen University as a postdoctoral researcher, where she will continue to advance research at the intersection of digital platforms, sustainability, and mechanism design. Congratulations, Dr. Liepold! 👏
