Gerhard Hiermann

Short Biography
Gerhard Hiermann is a research associate at the Professorship of Business Analytics & Intelligent Systems. Before joining TUM, he was working as a research fellow at the Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna and as an entrepreneur in a software development agency. Gerhard did his Ph.D. studies in logistics and operations management at the University of Vienna until 2019. His expertise lies in the field of operations research, especially in metaheuristics and dynamic programming applied to transportation and scheduling problems. With a background in computer science (software engineering), Gerhard's research interest also includes efficient design and implementation of operations research methods.
Apart from work, Gerhard enjoys spending time with his wife and kid, playing board- or videogames, and codes for fun.
